Tell Your Story. It’s Important.
I can remember the first time I attempted to tell my story. Yikes!
It was in front of people who I didn’t know and more importantly people who I knew could judge me. I was terrified, I actually wanted to run out the door. All I could think about was what were they going to think about me?! I know I needed to be vulnerable and open like I have never been before if I wanted to get my point across. Yikes! Would I lose my credibility, would I appear to be weak, would I appear to be insignificant, or more importantly, would I appear to be useless to the cause. Those are the thoughts that drove me absolutely mad and more importantly really put me in a place of thinking that I couldn’t do it. I almost didn't.
It’s scary to tell your story, I get it, I totally get it. But here’s the deal, if you don’t tell your story, you will be the sole reason why hundreds if not thousands of people don’t take the leap, don’t take the plunge, and more importantly stay stuck in their own lives. I’ve learned over the last decade of having to master telling my own story that the story itself is not for us. It’s not for those that are listening ONLY its for the person telling it.
Your story exists to serve a greater purpose. When I think about the greatest tools that I have used to build a business over the years, I always come right back to my story. It’s the only thing that makes me unique to the market and totally sets me apart.
Regardless of if you are working on lead generation or programs or products or thinking about how do I just get that customer or prospective customer to say yes, it’s always your ability to tell your story, and not just tell the story but tell a damn good version of the story that will really help you move the needle personally and emotionally.
